Best internet spreadsheet based budgeting tool

I am needing to do a monthly and yearly budget for our household expenses, and like a bit of Excel spreadsheeting, so thought I would see if anyone can recommend a good internet based budgeting tool that lets me use Excel?

I tried the HSBC one, but it then took in the details, spat out a summary and then disappeared. I want to save this to the computer and actually track our expenses against our budget every month.

Thank you!

Bump for this. I tried to find one last year to do for 2010 but couldn't find a good one.

(I particularly wanted to do a food/consumables one as I reckon our family is wasting loads of money on uneaten halves of cucumber and disorganised shopping in general.)

Watching with interest.

There's one on Martin Lewis' site, I think. take a look here

Has anyone done the MSE one? It does look thorough, that's for sure.

redhollyberry · 14/11/2010 18:17

Yes, I've done the MSE (Martin Lewis) one several times - it's pretty easy to use and really accurate.

Excellent, thanks for the MSE recommendation purpleturtle and redhollyberry.

Anyone have any other suggestions so I have a couple to choose from? Or do people just create their own?

I make my own TBH, the ready made ones get on my nerves, probably a control thing, or I can never find one tha's just how I want.

I have been using YNAB for a couple of months now and find it really good. It is not free but copes well with our complicated budget.

bunnymother · 15/11/2010 20:26

What is YNAB, MmeLindt?

You Need A Budget - a budgeting tool that you can download on the net. I use it cause I can synch it with my iPhone (although I don't often do this)

You can try it out for a week before you buy. Which you should do as it is $60,

I find it very good and it keeps me from overspending.

Apt title, MmeLindt - thanks for the info and the link!
