So. I suppose this is the right section. What is the time honoured way of getting chewing gum out of DD's hair when DS has deliberately smeared it in there?

Hmmm?

Anyone?

Cut it out is the easiest way.

ANTagony · 13/11/2010 17:40

You could try freezing it then it cracks off. Ice cubes held on it for a couple of minutes - you'll need a tea towel or cloth to save your fingers from feeling like they're doing the same.

JiggeryPoverty · 13/11/2010 17:41

Peanut butter.

QuintessentialShadows · 13/11/2010 17:44

scissors. Then you let dd cut a chunk of ds hair.

. not

HowsTheSerenity · 13/11/2010 17:44

peanut butter

GoodnightNobody · 13/11/2010 17:57

How does adding peanut butter help?

HerBeatitude · 13/11/2010 18:08

Am trying to avoid cutting it out if possible. Will make a big slice in her hair...

It helps the hair slide out of the peanut butter.

HerBeatitude · 13/11/2010 18:14

QUE? Am not understanding that jp - do you put the peanut butter on the chewing gum?

Grin DD is going to be so delighted at this suggestion...

mush peanut butter about the hair/gum interface. The gum should be easier to extract from teh hair/vice versa.

Schroeder · 13/11/2010 19:34

Sticky stuff remover will get chewing gum out of hair.

Alouiseg · 13/11/2010 21:58

Rehoming ds is probably the most effective, long term solution :o

jaffacakeaddict · 14/11/2010 08:43

Acetone may also help - I've used it to get chewing gum off shoes. Nail varnish remover used to be based on acetone. I don't know how acetone will work on hair though - if you want to try it, it may be worth cutting off a small strand of hair and testing it on that before trying it on the hair generally. Good luck

If it can wait long enough for you to get to a Lakeland store, they sell something which will do the job.

BoffinMum · 14/11/2010 08:49

Aldi are selling sticky stuff remover this week.

Hassled · 14/11/2010 08:49

Sorry - didn't see Schroeder's post. Yes, sticky stuff remover - I don't know if it's widely available or if the Lakeland version (which gets chewing gum out of anything) is called something else.

onadietcokebreak · 14/11/2010 13:00

Sticky stuff remover as already recommended. Can get in it Asda and Tescos as well as lakeland.
