So what do I need to know before buying a dishwasher?

Should I just buy a Bosch? Or is one Bosch really that much better than another?

Also what stuff are you meant to put in the machines - stuff to clean the dishes, stuff to clean the dishwasher, etc etc.

TIA.

Get a full size one - you'll soon become 'lazy' and chuck everything in it.

Do clean it once a month on an empty hottest cycle with white vinegar sloshed inside. And do clean the filter bits - it does help.

Do not waste money on expensive powders. The cheapy/value powders/tablets are fine but do keep the salt and rinse aid topped up.

Had various ones over the years but Bosch have been the best. Everything was very sturdy (no flimsy baskets/trays) and seemed quieter than others too.

We've had a Bosch since we moved in here (nearly 7 yrs) and it has been fine. There has been a little tinkering by DH to keep it runnung but nothing major.

Never ever buy the 3-in-1 tablets, use separate detergent, salt & rinse aid as needed. Ours can be set for harder/softer water so you only use the amount you need.

Don't go in for gadgets usually but I love having a dishwasher...
