The Life Book is very big, you need a big bag or to keep it on your desk.

I was going to go for a pocket life book, but actually my iPhone is doing me fine

Grockle · 02/11/2010 21:34

Oooo, I want an iPhone!

I have the month to view family planner/calendar which I really like.

fifitrixibell · 03/11/2010 01:23

I had the life book for this year which is good but big and cumbersome so I often left it at home and didn't make as much use of it as I could have.

I have just got the month to view planner (not the one with columns for each member of the family) which has big spaces for each day and 'to do' sections at the bottom - it's great!

I also got their shopping list and meal planner which is also great - you write your meal plan down one side and your shopping list down the other, which you can then rip off to take shopping - I am going to be so organised Grin

Fizzylemonade · 03/11/2010 10:57

I have the life book, it is bulky but I'm a SAHM so it just lives in my kitchen Grin

If I had to put it in my handbag I'd have the pocket life book.

Ah Bumperlicious, I love writing lists (all the time) and I like the stickers that come with the life book, so a phone just doesn't cut it for me Grin

domesticsluttery · 03/11/2010 11:02

I have the week to view calender with the columns for each family member and the pocket life book.

I am a list lover too Grin

clippityclop · 03/11/2010 19:48

Lists, post-it notes in purse and a big month-to view calendar with lots of room (M&S) hanging on the bathroom wall does it for me.

LadyLapsang · 03/11/2010 22:46

I have the week to view calendar & like the perforated shopping list - though no one else ever contributes to it...

cece · 03/11/2010 22:51

I have the week to view calendar and it works for me. I like the to do list.

amazonianwoman · 04/11/2010 10:12

Get an iPhone Grin

Much easier to manage and no need to update birthdays etc each year.

I'm lusting after an iPad I can mount on my kitchen wall so I can view all our calendars/keep notes/play music/internet radio etc etc Grin

Whippet · 04/11/2010 10:29

I have a leather zip up case for the Life Book if anyone wants to buy if off me!

(Now use my phone/pc for everything!)

funtimewincies · 04/11/2010 11:01

No idea what a Life Book is, but I just have a month-to-view calendar (usually the free one with Good Food mag) which has everything on it. Fine for me, dh, a preschooler and baby - I might need one with columns for people when the dcs get bigger.

elphabadefiesgravity · 04/11/2010 11:05

I have the Calender which is used daily and the pocket life book which isn't used as much but I do like to carry a handbag sized diary around with me.

BendyBobbingApples · 04/11/2010 11:08

I'm going to try the calendar for the first time this year. There are 5 of us so all info up on the wall for everyone to see is clearer than hidden and lurking in my diary.

I do also keep a big filofax type diary for me though and a pukka pad notebook which I'd be lost without

You'd think with all that it'd be a haven of peace and calm chez Bendy. Unfathomably notHmm

linconlass · 04/11/2010 14:08

Whippett - what colour is yr life book cover ?thanks !!

jaffacakeaddict · 04/11/2010 18:29

I have the calendar which has columns for each member of the family. I love it. I enter everything on the calendar including all days when I need DH to do the school run etc. That way he can't say he's forgotten about something that I mentioned to him weeks beforehand.

Grockle · 04/11/2010 18:35

Right, so calendar and pocket life book, perhaps.

thank you!

If you really want to simplify your life then get an iPhone or Blackberry. The investment is worth it and it's a billion times better than paper diaries (yuck!). Space for all the minutiae - great if you have OCD like me!

Frugalfamily · 04/11/2010 19:22

I love Organised Mum things - I want the bif family wall planner.

elphabadefiesgravity · 04/11/2010 21:52

Organised Mum Diary & Calender = less than £20

Iphone or Blackberry = £160 on payg

Sorry its a no brainer, paper wins every time.

Besides I hate dh's blackberry with a passion, it is so user unfriendly.

Whippet · 05/11/2010 11:52

Lincolnlass - it's black....

domesticsluttery · 05/11/2010 17:09

The batteries don't run out on my calendar or diary Grin

MrsVincentPrice · 05/11/2010 17:13

Presumably there's £££ to be made in an Organised Mum type iPhone / Android app - if MN HQ have any nous they should be working on one now.
Can anyone suggest a good Thing To Do / shopping list app?

overmydeadbody · 05/11/2010 17:16

I like a bit more style than the OM things.

I have a little moleskine diary, week to page, as well as google calendar that synchs up ds, bf and I and sends us texts as reminders.

Speckledeggy · 05/11/2010 21:28

iPhones are better for personal use. Blackberries are better for work (esp. email).

I couldn't cope with a paper diary now. My calendar and contacts are linked to a Gmail account so I update a lot of stuff online anyway. I can also add notes in my calendar and the full address of where I'm going which is handy if my diary is back to back. I'd say that would be a bit more of a challenge with a paper diary. I wouldn't knock the iPhone until you try it. It's bloody wonderful! I'm the PA to a Chief Exec of a blue chip company so I'd like to think I'm the queen of organisation... (cackles loudly....)
