DD1 keeps coming home from nursery covered in paint. Every day i say, 'if you do a painting put on an apron and roll your sleeves up' .........does she hell lol. Red seems to be the worst and whatever i do it just wont come out! All i get from nursery staff is 'dont send her in nice clothes' Ok thats fine but i dont want her to look grubby and throwing 3 cheap tops out a week soon adds up! Things ive tried so far are...

Bio powder soaked overnight then washed
Areil stain remover
Oxy action stain remover
Nappysan
Bleach on white ones (still bloody red!!!!)

Any other suggestions? She loves painting so dont have the heart to say dont paint :(

Things that help a bit are to send the child in 2 layers, short sleeved t-shirt and cardigan. Often the nursery is warm enough for them to ditch the sweatshirt/cardigan during the day.

Send in a long sleeved old shirt or similar for her to use while painting.

small dcs ime don't remember to roll sleeves up or the sleeves fall back down.

Don't throw the tops out, send her in them. Also, buy patterned tops if possible, they are quite forgiving when covered in marks compared to plain :)

just send her in in the painty clothes. DS has a couple of polo-shirts that have whiteboard marker on them but I still put them on him.

as onepiece says just send her in old clothes and chill! She's doing what you pay for - If your really worried about how she looks just buy a really nice coat lol

I was told that if you wash it with detergent at first it sets the stain. You're supposed to soak and rinse in cold water only to get the paint out before washing.

Not sure if it's true, we've not done painting since I was given the tip!

Mention to nursery that this is happening and suggest that a nursery nurse has mentioned putting a touch of washing up liquid in the paint and mixing it up ....doesnt spoil the paint but helps with the removal.

In Spain & France kids wear these pricey You might be able to buy cheaper somewhere. I got mine from Spain for 5 euro.
maybe if you put something like this on her as she goesd in and takes it off when she comes out.
This
School staff won't help you by putting stuff on the kids. Now Ds is in school I give up as I know the teacher won't tell them to put them on as it takes too much of their time!

Why are nursery staff using these problem paints when so many are washable? The worst colour to remove from paper is blue, whatever the medium, so I'd have another word about the red stains.

Yer ive spoken to the teacher about it but nothing has been done. I even offered to bring in a full sleeved apron but she said no as the other children maybe jealous lol.

Ive sent her in a red top today, might just have to buy a 'red' wardrobe haha
