I have chenilled two lovely blankets :(

I had two lovely fleecy blankets and a chenille monstrosity.
I threw them into the washing machine together which at the time I knew it was a stupid thing to do, but somehow I had it in my mind that I had done it before.
Anyway, my two blankets are now covered in a fine layer of chenille :(
I ahve re washed them, but it has done very little. Any advice or are they doomed?

Clothes Lint remover?

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 26/10/2010 22:00

heavy thick wool I think
sure it's lovely if you like that sort of thing but I don't

I'm afraid you may need to do the sellotape trick

Appletrees · 26/10/2010 22:04

can't you get one of those rolly things from h and m and sort of sticky tape it off

to see if they will work and are worth going out to get, roll some sticky tape around your hand (sticky side out ha ha) and press it over the blankets to see if it brings off the chenille

if it does, hasten ye to hennes and buy a couple of rolly things, they cost about a pound

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 26/10/2010 22:04

no I don't think that would work, it's not just a few bits of fluff, it is a chenille sheen, if you can imagine it :(

Tumble drying on a low heat might blow some of it away?

Guacamole · 26/10/2010 22:06

Lots of Sellotape and lots if patience! :(

CarGirl · 26/10/2010 22:06

Stroke it whilst wearing a rubber glove (work well for fine fluffy cat hair)

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 26/10/2010 22:06

Have you got a tumble dryer (and can they go in it)? That would sort it although it would probably take several cycles. Otherwise it's going to be a two person job with a hoover attachment I fear.

shodatin · 26/10/2010 22:10

If the weather's right, I'd hang them on the line outside and hope the chenille covering will drop off as they dry.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/10/2010 22:12

Hoover?

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 26/10/2010 22:13

Chenille covering wont drop off, 'tis most persistent stuff.

Quattrocento · 26/10/2010 22:13

Can you use a razor? It works a treat for debobbling jumpers.

scaleymcnamechange · 26/10/2010 22:16

What kind of a razor Quattro? Just the normal disposable type jobby you tackle your armpits with?

Quattrocento · 26/10/2010 22:18

Aye. Any old disposable will do. I have used razors for debobbling jumpers and duffle coats. Works brilliantly on both. Just put the bobbly object on a table and start shaving.

wukterWOOO · 26/10/2010 22:21

I love MN.
where else would you learn about shaving duffle coats.

scaleymcnamechange · 26/10/2010 22:21

Ooooh.

.

I've always had a bobble-off before now.

Quattrocento · 26/10/2010 22:24

:) You will be amazed actually.

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 26/10/2010 22:31

The razor trick is amazing. Even works on opaques.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 26/10/2010 22:44
