Please don't ask the in's and out's as I'm feeling a little delicate about the whole situation still Shock (let's just say I'm not talking to my toddler for a while lol)

dark purple paint on cream carpet.... How on earth do I get it out without staining my whole carpet pink....

Oh dear... I'm not sure if that will be salvageable. What kind of paint? All I can suggest is the obvious, work from the outside in. Maybe you can get it professionally removed on your house insurance?

mousymouse · 21/10/2010 09:02

is it still wet?
maybe then tons of salt will help to soak up as much of the colour as possible.

have you got accidental cover on your house insurance
we got replacement carpet when ds threw up purple puke all down our stairs

Get one of those Carpet cleaners round who put fliers through the door, they might be able to salvage it for you, check they have insurance first. Or claim on your insurance if possible. Hard to see that your carpet will ever look like it used to.You will be reminding your little one about this for years...when my dd spilled yellow paint all over herself and the upstairs she was 2, we still talk about it now. You will laugh about it one day, I promise!!

If it is water based paint an aquavac should do it.

APixieInMyTea · 21/10/2010 19:15

Well it was Gloss paint. A (quite big) tester pot.

No idea how he got hold of it. He has extremely long hair for an 18month old and I really thought I was going to have to shave his head to get it all out.

Anyway, it wasn't much on the carpet but I definitely made it worse by trying to clean in so insurance jobby it is I think.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway.

Really wishing I had took photo's now but I was just too damn upset at the time. Grin

We might be odd but we have taken quite a few photos of past 'disasters', one with our youngest covered head to foot in felt tip pen, one with yellow paint all over the upstairs landing, our eldest sat surrounded by a huge pile of cornflakes which she had emptied out whilst we were showing potential buyers around our house. I could go on but am now feeling like I must have been a v neglectful mum in the past!!

Good Luck with the insurance Smile
