How to clean the kettle with white vinegar

I think I remember reading a tip saying that to clean the limescale out of the kettle you can use white vinegar. Can someone tell me exactly how?

How much do I use and do I boil the kettle up?

Thanks

Just pour it in up to the hight of the scale.

Leave it overnight (put the vinegar bottle by it and unplug it to remind you not to use it in the morning).

Rinse and boil up a couple of times with fresh water next day.

Add vinegar until you've covered all the limescale.

Leave overnight (or for a few hours I guess)

Empty Kettle

Fill with water. Boil. Empty...repeat until vinegar smell has gone!

Thank you both! And great tip Jamais about putting the empty bottle next to it to avoid forgetting!

One last cup of tea tonight for me before I descale.

and don't forget you can always boil a saucepan of water for a cuppa 1st thing before you finish off kettle!

KnickKnack I genuinely don't think I would have thought of that! bit thick and tired emotion

oh, i wondered why it wasn't working - not leaving it long enough!
Would rather have my tea taste of vinegar than limelite(or similar) any day.
