Aaargh and gah and buggery dishwasher!

Actually it's more aargh and gah and buggery Homebase, who we had to do our new kitchen.

After 2 months of hassle, ineptitude and all-round pain-in-arseness from dear Homebase, our kitchen is nearly finished, but here's the prob.

They haven't left a deep enough space for the dishwasher. We have a maximum depth availability of 54 cm from a pipe on the wall to the front of the space, with a possible allowable extra of 3 cm for an overhanging ledge at the top, like on the lovely brand new Bosch we bought which is now sitting forlorlnly in the middle of the kitchen.

So. What I want to know is this: are 'fully integrated' dishwashers less deep (shallower?) than freestanding ones? Or do we have to make an extra allowance for the door and so forth? How does it work if you buy a fully integrated dishwasher from, say, Comet? Do they fit like freestanding ones?

Or, does anyone know of a brand or particular dishwasher which, whilst still being 60-odd cms wide, might fit into the depth criteria? I have Googled and searched till my eyes are nearly bleeding but having no joy, except for one Whirlpool which might or might not fit.

Dish washers are a waste of Energy.

Hot water and Fairy liquid are all you need.
