Can anyone tell me about house rabbits and what they do and if difficult to look after.

We are renting our house out and an interested couple have 2 house rabbits. I don't know anything about house rabbits, are they just like house cats so do their business in litter trays?

We had one as children, which was trained to use newspaper (any paper left on floor would do) or partitioned cage. Rabbit droppings are much easier to live with than cat-poo, and I can't recall ever seeing it do a wee. It was clean, fun and friendly , got on well with the dog and didn't seem to shed hair or smell. Not noisey either, so I can't see any problem, even with two.

Just realised you asked what they do, and the answer's not much really, apart from sitting on knees (watching TV?) or begging for food when allowed out of the hutch, or hopping around with dog etc. Nice to stroke etc.

:) Hi smellyfeet we have a houserabbit and his poop isn't the thing to worry about its the chewing and scratching, now I'm not trying to put you off the couple but do check with them that they are going to secure wires and things away from prying teeth. Other than that they are like shodatin says, clean and quiet. Our rabbit did use his tray when he was younger but now he runs back to his house and goes in a corner there.

(I've only just started here and I'm able to feel useful already) :o

We too have house rabbit
He uses his box to poop and pee, mostly. Rabbits do tend to poop if they get a fright
He's funny in that as soon as his box is cleaned he jumps in to wee with a mad gleamin his eye and one drooping ear
Rabbits will thump, basically bang on the floor if frightened. What frightens them varies from day to day
He's a terror to any wires, we've taken to using cable tidy to cover them
Also likes to nibble the skirting board, wallpaper and recently the tv stand in my room
We have found bitter apple spray discourages this
he likes to chase the cat, hide under the bed, runs in circles.
