Salt works really well here. Then use mix of washing up liquid and vinegar if have any around for quick clean every few days.

Bert2e · 13/10/2010 14:19

Distilled malt vinegar!

What are you trying to get marks off?

wonderstuff · 13/10/2010 15:25

I am battleing with ceramic basin and bath, and toilet cleaners don't work on my loo, only bleach will do the trick and that can't be good for the environment.

I do have vinegar, haven't tried that yet. How does the salt work?

We once moved into a place that had dark brown marks in the toilet where presumably the limescale had been stained by shit .

We used spirit of salts to get it off. Thereafter something for toilets with limescale cleaners in it.

dexter73 · 13/10/2010 15:43

I use cillit bang on the sink and bath and bleach for the toilet.

JiggeryPopery · 13/10/2010 15:45

I squirt Viakal about once a month. And I use those cloths that are bobbley on one side.

Bleach doesn't shift limescale it just stains it yellowy ime, you need blue harpic.

Romilly70 · 13/10/2010 15:48

Viakal is superb.

Also a squeegy thing for shower screens saves a lot of hassle if you quickly clean off the water before getting out

MaudOHara · 13/10/2010 17:56

Squeegying and drying off after is the best preventer but rather tedious

sea74 · 14/10/2010 22:36

Lime lite.

pollyblue · 17/10/2010 20:04

Bicarb of soda (stuff you use in baking) mixed to a paste with water and rubed on well with cloth works v well. The water is very hard here too and I find Ecover's limescale remover spray very good on sink and bath.

pollyblue · 17/10/2010 20:05

rubbed oops

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 17/10/2010 20:06

bath power - toxic but excellent.

flibbertigibbert · 19/10/2010 14:09

Lime Lite works well on my shower screen and bath, both of which get very bad due to hard water

IrmaGhostSlayer · 20/10/2010 11:20

I second the use ecover limescale remover much less smelly than the others. Their normal bathrrom spray is good too and found is excellent on cleaning carpets essential with my toddler.

Sanesometimes1 · 27/10/2010 00:29

viakel spray - does the trick no major rubbing - just spray quick wipe and rinse.

Bonsoir · 27/10/2010 08:17

HG Bath Shine - at any good ironmongers.

Grumpla · 27/10/2010 13:02

Bath Power! My MIL swears by it and she is a very very clean and tidy lady. I am such a disappointment to her...

prettymum · 27/10/2010 13:43

One of my colleagues from boots recommended a product called ataka in the store and it is wonderful. It stinks really badly and you will need gloves but it took off all the limescale and water marks from my sink and bath tub in 5 miutes. It's only £1.25 from boots and truely a godsend for me after trying other products and scrubbing away.

deaddei · 27/10/2010 16:05

What works on the metal bit of the shower screen?
Would bicarb work?
