Organising kids clothes - help!

Ok, I know I should be able to work this out myself, but pregnant and knackered and can't seems to make a single decision.
Basically I have been given a glut of clothes for my little boy, I'm very grateful, but have too many to fit in his quite small chest of drawers and I have piles of them everywhere stressing me out, with the general clutter everywhere I am trying to sort. Obviously I need to choose my faves and pass the rest on. BUT how many do I really need do you think? He's one.
How many should I keep of . . . .
vests
t shirts
long sleeved tops
trousers
dungarees
jumpers/warm things
Also, how many blankets does a newborn really need do you think?
Help please all you organised people!

Are you just talking about newborn size stuff?

Put anything that is larger than 3-6mths into storage (if you want to keep). Allocate 1-2 drawers for the larger stuff (0-3/3-6 depending on what size your baby is!)

Keep plenty of vests and sleepsuits as you may have lots of changes of those, and they spend a lot of time in them as newborns. You will really only need a couple of comfortable but cute 'actual clothes' in the first few weeks (possibly months) unless you like to dress them up daily Hmm

I would say a dozen of each vests and sleepsuits, 6 cardigans/jumpers, 6 complete outfits, some socks, 1 jacket or pramsuit, 2-3 sleeping bags (if you use) and as many muslin squares as you can lay your hands on Grin

Blankets - I think it is good to have plenty, although a muslin folded under their heads is good for catching spews and saving sheets. I used a couple of cheap fleece blankets on the changing mat, bouncer, etc. Thick, knitted blankets on the floor or playmat. Selection of cotton sheets, cellular blankets and fleece for baby bed (until moving onto sleeping bags).

Not sure that helps at all!

Thanks for replying! I know I am being a bit pathetic really. I just feel in a bit of a cloud and surrounded by clutter.

My message was a bit confusing because I threw the newborn blanket bit in at the end, as I seem to have millions of them too. I haven't even started organising stuff for the new baby yet as I agree with you that it will be in babygros for months, so easy and comfy.

The clothes I am posting about are for my one year old. Just don't know how many to keep or pass on! Honestly, how did I used to hold down a decent job and make decisions like a normal person!

Oh well I have an excellent system for organising my 20mth & 4yo clothes!!

You know those canvas things that you hang in your wardrobe for 'sweaters'? Get one of those (preferably with 7/8 boxes but mines only has 6) and fill each slot with a complete outfit including socks/vests/etc.

Same as newborn, keep extra vests/socks/3-4 extra t-shirts in the drawers. I reckon that 2 warm tops (hoody or cardi-type thing) is fine and a warm jacket for winter.

My boys hanger thingys actually hang just outside their bedroom door, which means as the washing is done I just pop the complete outfits back in the hanger ready for using.

It is genius....it was not my idea Grin

Oh, and my favourite item is long sleeved white vests, as it lets you get far more use of t-shirts.
