Help! I seem to buy one every couple of years and the suction always goes. My current one is morphy richards (??) and cost about £100 - it's bagless and I do clean it out but it is deffo knackered. I just hate spending loads of money on boring vacuuming Blush

How much to I have to spend to get a decent one?

Henry, approx £90, and used by contract cleanes everywhere.

Easywriter · 04/10/2010 14:19

Dyson, expensive but good!

atah · 04/10/2010 14:29

i have gone through 4 dysons in the past 11 years, have now switched to SEBO as recommended by just about everyone and its great.

Not cheap but I got the most basic one and am still amazed by it after a year, i have wood, carpet and very uneven stone floors and the "parquest floor" head handles the lot!

atah · 04/10/2010 14:30

I mean parquet floor Blush

nocake · 04/10/2010 14:31

Having destroyed a cheap bagless cleaner in less than a year and hearing so many bad reviews of Dysons we bought a Hettie (pink Henry). It's fabulous. Very quiet and effective.

I am a big fan of Miele vacuum cleaners.

I love mine.

passionberry · 04/10/2010 14:41

I borrowed my mum's old Dyson but it was really heavy and I feared for my kitchen tiles! I don't like the design either but I haven't looked at any newer ones to be fair.

Henry sounding good so far . . .

I have had a miele for 2 years with no problems - it has different heads for different floors

TotorosOcarina · 04/10/2010 15:52

Henry/Hetty

I've been through about 5 £100ish hoovers in the last 3 years!

Hetty is the best by far and they seem to last a long time juding but other Henrys in the family.

deepbreath · 04/10/2010 16:55

I had a Hoover (over £100) die on me, followed by a £150 Vax. Should have got a Dyson or Henry!

I felt the same as you, and ended up buying a cheap Tesco value cylinder vac to tide me over until I could get something better, it cost around £18. 2 years on, it is still going! At that price, it isn't totally faultless but the niggles I have with it are minor and it does the job.

Hullygully · 04/10/2010 16:57

Henry. Henry Henry Henry.

All the rest are shite

wildstrawberryplace · 04/10/2010 17:04

I have a Henry and a Miele and the Miele is MUCH better - but the Henry is still good, except on carpets, it's rubbish.

Henry are used by contract cleaners because they last for ever and are built like a tank. But they aren't actually the best performers. Even with the turbo attachment.

TrinityRhino · 04/10/2010 17:06

I bought a pink henry off ebay and it doesn;t have the bit in the middle it should have
the name of it has totally lost me

erm
crap

erm
oh fgs

the FILTER

thats it

duh

anyone know where I can get one?

passionberry · 04/10/2010 17:07

Ok I'm convinced! Grin Henry/Hetty it is

(although deepbreath I am very tempted by the sound of your £18 Tesco vac, I am such a cheapskate!)

FFS.... try www.espares.co.uk!

lucy101 · 04/10/2010 17:12

I have had Miele Cat and Dog.... and it is nowhere near as good as my Hetty. My cleaner was telling me last week that she was so glad we had it and not something else as they are the only one she likes to use. I asked a few friends before we bought the Hetty and they all said Henry/Hetty too.

TrinityRhino · 05/10/2010 11:05

thankyou so much nocake

perfect part ordered today Smile

bacon · 05/10/2010 11:33

Meile and sebo come out best on which? tests. Never had a problem, I aim for mine to last for 10yrs plus.

passionberry · 05/10/2010 22:10

Well - I have ordered my Hetty! DH will take the piss out of my colour choice but sod it, I do all the hoovering and she's so pretty! She has eyelashes!!

Thanks all!

reptile · 07/10/2010 07:17

My Sebo is great and has lasted for ever

HeftyNorks · 07/10/2010 07:56

Enjoy Hetty passionberry - I have one and she's the best vacuum cleaner I have ever had. Pretty too.
