Anyone got a Stoves cooker?

And if you have, how do you rate them? I have one (a 61GDO) and am quite disappointed with it. It seems to heat really unevenly and it takes ages to heat up. I bought an oven thermometer and was shocked at how long it took. But the most annoying thing about it is the dial for the oven settings - it is really hard to decipher what Gas Mark you are setting it to because you have to line up the line on the knob with a mark on the fascia and it's very awkward to do (anyone who has one will hopefully know what I mean!) We've replaced a knob as well as it disintegrated and they do get incredibly hot to the touch.

Be interested to hear what other people think of them.

I have a very old one. I reckon it's about 10+ years old. Just a normal gas cooker with a fan oven. It's absolutely fantastic. I love it.

I have a Stoves dual fuel range cooker. We've had it about 5 years and I still love it. We haven't had any of the problems others have mentioned. Heats up fine, knobs look like they did when we got it, doors all good.

I was looking at stoves and rangemasters in a local appliance shop and the salesman told me outright that Stoves were the one brand that he would definitely not recommend.

I have one and it's fine. It's this one (an older model from about 7 years ago, dual fuel):

One knob is a bit wonky but it works fine. The ovens are true to temp and heat pretty fast.

Well looks like the same issues still ongoing with Stoves: shocking quality control & hopeless customer service. Amazingly our Genus is still going, tho only just. Last Oct it had a fit & stopped working, just wouldn't fully boot up again after a series of kitchen power cuts due to a duff breaker in the fusebox. I gave up with it, expecting to fork out for another oven but gave it another couple of tries for luck & bingo, it booted up & has been fine since. However judging by many others experiences we have been very lucky to have got 15 years out of ours. No melted knobs or doors falling off. (If we were heavy grill users I suspect the main knob would have been toast years ago, as it's right above the doors) As it is they used an expensive incremental knob that has got fussier & fussier about how its turned. Very delicately, otherwise it randomly jumps around the settings. Wrong kind of high tech knob for that location. I suspect it will fail again within the year, so will have to start looking at something quieter to replace the bomber with. Will miss the Genus function, dead simple to use & that has been the best thing about it but probably nothing that a decent modern microwave couldn't do as well or better. .
