Please help with my hob paranoia

I have just seen a demo of an induction hob and am being seduced. Unfortunately, I am also a bit freaked out and need some help. I just feel like they are not quite right. Is there any possibility that stray waves could fry my brain, arm or small child? Would my simmering veggies be irradiated and robbed of their goodness? I am told you shouldn't cook with them if you have a pacemaker, I don't, but next door does and the hob would be on our shared wall, do I need to worry?
What with the microwave and the wireless broadband already installed, I'm really not sure about the hob. Can anyone please help?

I have no idea, but will watch with interest as we are changing our kitchen and I can't decide.
Always thought I would go for gas hob, but am also being seduced by induction.

Grin

I love my induction hob and would not choose to go back to anything else.

There are no 'waves' or 'rays' , it is all done by White Magic Wink.... naw, not really, it is summat to do with magnets. That is why it only works with pots with ferrous/iron bases. They close the circuit and your food gets hot - the actual pot does not get heated, only secondarily by the hot food IYKWIM. It's fab, v fast (as fast as gas), you can control it very acurately and if you move a pot off the "flame" the circuit is broken and no further energy is expended.

So relax, go for it and enjoy Smile

Thank you PacificDogwood, I know I sound a bit crazy (especially when I see it written down). You see a couple of years ago I had major surgery (unplanned, but life saving) and now have some metal inside my body and I think my fears are related to all that. It was so scary at the time that sometimes I still get a bit irrational about it all and I have to admit, I do take a step back after I switch the microwave on. When I weigh up the possibilities of cooking myself from the inside out, contributing in some small way to next door dropping down dead (he's not young) and maybe even causing a rip in the fabric of space-time, I might just have to go with the ordinary halogen after all. Yes, relaxing sounds good.

Ah, I see.

I suppose if you do not have to avoid fridge magnets then an induction hob should not be danger to you either.

And think of all the people who wear magnet bracelets and the like for their health benefits Wink.

Personally, I am not worried about the space-time-continouum even if you DO go for an induction hob Grin.

And don't you just hate people who tell you to relax when you are anything but?! Sorry Smile
