I thought it would be interesting to carry this on through winter.

ds's bedroom says 20 degrees but it has the sun shining in just now. It feels colder than that in the living room as it is at the front of the house and is in the shade.

barbie1 · 30/09/2010 17:16

25c, but thats because the AC is on to cool us down...Without it the room would be more 38c, but we live in dubai so it's understandable Smile

anonymosity · 30/09/2010 19:42

76 F inside, 79 F outside (stateside)

suiledonne · 30/09/2010 19:46

16C in the living room right now.

I am dreading the winter.

We foolishly rented a large open plan house in June '09 on a warm sunny day and have lived to regret it.

It is impossible to heat. Last winter the bedrooms never got above 10C even with the heating coming on for a few hours a day.

We managed about 15 - 16C in the living room with the open fire buring all day.

pebblejones · 30/09/2010 20:26

22 deg and I've not even had the heating on! Our house is far too hot all of the time, I think we must have mega insulation!

dexter73 · 30/09/2010 20:59

22 deg here too with no heating. I live in a terraced house though which is great insulation especially as both my neighbours have houses like tropical greenhouses, so I am sure they are heating our house too!

We do have double glazing too so it isn't draughty but I do leave the windows open a bit even when it is really cold. We have gas central heating and pay £12 a month on our direct debit. We also have a gas hob.

Its 22 in my house. Heating is on and I'm in the south.

jamaisjedors · 01/10/2010 08:52

It was 16° when I left this morning.

Our heating is not on yet.

dexter73 · 01/10/2010 20:05

Riven - would it be worth getting someone in to look at the windows so they could make them close properly and perhaps seal them up properly so they fit? Your gas bill seems quite high so it could save money in the long term and keep you all warmer.

Is your house owned or rented?

You may already know this as I know your DD is older than my DS but I have a sort of ranting thread on here where I have posted about things to help as I have finally found out about them.

There's a few things on there to help you save money like cold weather payments, warmfront grant, council tax reduction, some water and energy suppliers offer lower tariffs, free bus pass, discounted rail pass and free road tax. There are also various charities that give money to families in need such as Family Fund, The William Cadbury Trust, The Kensington Foundation, The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and The Frank Buttle Trust.

Some also do holidays and repsite breaks like The Kensington Foundation and The Daisy Chain Project and the National Association of Toy Libraries will tell you about any local or mobile toy libraries near you.

You may know about all or some of these, but accessing these services has made money available for other things.

This is the thread, it is on the SN topic but those charities I mentioned help low income families with NT children as well apart from Family Fund, Daisy Chain and The Kensington Foundation.

19 degrees. South-East, no heating on (but I have been baking today)

gaelicsheep · 06/10/2010 16:48

It's quite mild outside at the mo and it's 18 degrees in the living room. That's because we switched on the storage heater during the really cold snap and we've left it on low to help the warmth build up in the house (solid granite) before winter. No heating upstairs other than portables so they're around 15 degrees in the daytime at the mo. Much colder a week ago.

In the depths of winter we've been down to 9 or 10 degrees, with storage heaters on. I hate winter! But we've got insulation upstairs now so I hope things will be warmer this year. I don't think the living room has ever achieved 18 degrees before anyhow.

mogs0 · 06/10/2010 17:28

18.5 in the lounge. No heating on yet - think it only clicks on when the temp drops to 15 or 16 anyway! I found my supply of fingerless gloves today ready for typing when it's freezing!!

I'm a little worried about ds this Winter as he and I swapped bedrooms and he now has the chilly room. Having said that, he has nice thick cutains to keep out any draughts whereas I just have silly voile ones that don't do anything other than look pretty Grin.

nappyaddict · 13/10/2010 15:10

Do you really have fingerless gloves for inside?
