I am finding out just how vital it is to declutter children's clothes and toys as you go along... we have dd (2.5) and ds (just turned 1). I would never have believed how much stuff they accumulate, and we have very few toys compared to most people I know.
I had quite a few unisex clothes for dd which ds is rapidly growing into. No more dc's for us
, so am trying to sort out the huge piles of outgrown stuff and eBay/pass on to friends/charity shop as appropriate. Also breast pump, baby bath, bottle warmer (unused as realised kettle and jug was sufficient,
), etc, etc.
Ds is in dining room at present as we are mid-renovation, making 2 dc's rooms out of one very large bedroom. He has a cot, changing mat and big plastic tub for his clothes. As starting from scratch would like some advice.
Have a chest of drawers for dd, but as she is older, wearing more dresses and things that might need ironing and hanging up - do you all use a normal size wardrobe? Put an extra hanging rail in half way down? A few things hung on door hooks at present, but we have an old house with some sneaky moths that have munched some of my clothes already this summer, so keen to keep the dc's things away from damage with plenty of lavender oil and cedar balls around!
Just bit concerned of safety aspect of wardrobe as dd about to go from cot to bed, worriedabout her pulling it over or trapping fingers in hinges during midnight excursions.
Maybe an Ikea-style fitted wardrobe with sliding doors that we could organise clothes and hide rubbish in? Trying to think ahead to when they are a bit older. One day in the future we will have a palyroom built downstairs, so don't need too much room in dc's bedrooms for toys.
Thanks all.
