how to tackle cream carpets

We have cream carpets (wool) throughout the house and they are now looking v grubby. They were not our choice but were in the house when we bought it.
Should we have the cleaned professionally (if you can recommend a company in N london that would be fab).
Or should I buy a steam or shampoo cleaner and do it myself more regularly
or (my mother's suggestion) use elbow grease and some Daz in a bowl.
Thanks for your advice!

Take em up and have boards?! Wink

I would have them professionally cleaned now and then invest in own shampooer to keep them clean but get someone else to do the deep clean.

You have hit on my prefered option! I would love wooden flooring, unfortunately we are watching our spending so can't afford to change the carpets atm. I am just getting fed up with seeing guests looking at carpets with shocked expressions!

if its that bad you need professional help. i would call places and ask them to come and have a look and tell you what you can expect from them.

cream carpet is high maintenance.
