How much do carpets cost

our baby room has no carpet in it - we're going to get a cheap one though not so cheap it falls apart, and an underlay. It's a decent size single room or tiny double - just wondered if anyone has any idea even roughly of what kind of price this type of thing costs - I will go for offcut off carpet if we can.

carpet is normally priced per m2 - it can be as cheap or expesnive as you want. You'll need underlay too.

Thanks - do you think it is reasonable to think I could get carpet and underlay and have it fitted for a medium sized bedroom for about £350?

£350 is bloody plenty.

We just had 2 large double bedrooms, hallway and living/dining room fitted for £520. (no underlay)

Think the carpet was 4.99per m2

In old house we had a lovely fluffy carpet with underlay fitted in large double bedroom for £200ish and that was at £8.99 per m2

£350 should be more than enough depending on how much the carpet you want costs.

We did our entire loft room with a good basic carpet that has a 5 year guarantee, bleachable (essential with the kids!) neutral colour. We paid £250 for it, including fitting, and the room is quite big. No underlay in that price, did not need it really.

£350 would be about right including underlay i would say, should be able to get something decent for that price, with a bit of change maybe?

Brilliant. May we could do our bedroom too. Had given up hope of ever getting that done.

Carpet people came to measure - turns out we could do the baby room for about £200 plus the hall and stairs for another £300 or so.

Its worth shopping around if you have time yellowflowers - we got quotes from John Lewis, Carpet Right, and a local carpet shop. DH managed to barter the local guys down quite a bit, so we went with them in the end.

PavlovtheCat · 14/09/2010 11:23

yes we got ours from local co. did a deal on that room and hallway/too lots of stairs (that had underlay).

We paid £950 in total, including underlay and enough for the tiny bedroom afterwards to (cobbled together mind!), and the fittings (runners, rods etc), where Carpetright quoted something like £1500 for just the hallway.

Thanks - this is a local shop who are lovely. I used Carpet right once before and they wouldn't do anything unless every single piece of furniture was removed from the room and they were really arsey.
