DS gets all manner of crap down his school shirts. This week's stains include:
pasta sauce
blackberry juice
nutella
assorted inks
mud
orange juice
chocolate
and so on, and so on.

I can't use bio powder because of Eczema. I have tried:
Ace bleace (crap)
Vanish powder (didnt work)
Vanish soap (limited success)
Bleach (did the job, except ink, but I can live with the ink stains).
Soaking over night in soapy water (ok for mud)
Hanging on the line in sun (great, but only a good option for about five days a year in this country).

Any other ideas? so far bleach wins, but then I have to rinse, rinse rinse and wash to get the smell and residue out, it will prbably cause the tshirts to disintigrate and its bad for the planet.

All ideas greatly received....

1]Fairy liquid straight onto the stain and then wash.
2]Leave on the line until the stain has gone -does work even if there isnt any sun.Sometimes re-wetting works where it hasnt first time
3]Napisan -just rediscovered this from a previous tip . Really good for 'biological' stains. May need a good soak though but no smelly residue.

Or accept that school clothes get stained and free yourself from the tyranny of perfection Grin.

Ahhh, I havent tried that SrStanislaus, thanks I'll give it a go! I dont mind a bit of a stained tshirt, but it does get embarrassing when he turns up to school looking like hes been down the mine first... Grin

Dishwashing liquid (for dishwashers) is designed to disolve food in hot water. Soak item with a dessert spoonful of the liquid in a few cms of v hot water in sink (use recently boiled kettle) and then wash as normal. Seems to get rid of quite a few food stains.

oooh good tip, pippop1! thanks Grin

which Ariel product is it? Is it a spray cleaner or one you put in the drum/draw?

I have this problem and its only the start of the year.

Stain Devil was great on my dh's cricket whites and always got out his grass and mud stains Grin.

You will need to get the right one for each stain though.

I must admit, I don't worry too much about school uniform. If it is not clean after one wash then it is worn with the stain which gradually fades over time, I find.

I just bleach every month or so and in between they get grubbier and grubbier till I bleach them again, or if short on time use a whitening in wash thing- I think its dr beckmans, but no idea how that would go with sensitive skin
