have you got a thermostat? check the temp that its set on, if its set low then the heating wont come on :)

It could be the thermostat, if you have one.

Or your boiler may well have a button which allows it to heat water, or central heating, or both. We have one at work like that, and if the button is knocked from its usual setting to another, we usually discover, when we find we are getting no hot water.

Or it could have two programmes which have been set to allow the water and the heating to come on at specific times. My combi at home has that. It may be that your hot water is set to be available all day, but your heating in the afternoon only . . .

Good luck

Checked thermostat it's up.

Have had a look and the pressure dial is on blue would that mean anything?

Hmmm.........our pressure dial doesn't have any blue on it Confused have you got an instruction book? Can you phone whoever installed it and ask them?

Marchpane · 08/09/2010 11:31

I expect it's your pressure. For the first couple of months after ours was installed the pressure would drop too low and the boiler would stop working.

Apparently it's something to do with air in the pipes after all the flushing and stuff that goes during installation.

There should be a valve to adjust the pressure. Check the pressure gauge and then follow instructions in the manual.

Marchpane · 08/09/2010 11:33

Ah x-post. Sounds like it's the pressure then. But if in doubt call the plumber who installed

oldenoughtowearpurple · 08/09/2010 11:37

does your timer have separate controls for heating and hot water? combis don't have pumps do they - if it does then check the pump is working

The workman has just left and we have a lovely warm house again.
It was nothing to do with the boiler the thermostat gauge had broke so even though we turned it up it wouldn't register.

Thanks for all the advice.
