Having a clear out - is NCT sale the answer?

I have an awful lot of boys clothes and various other baby equipment (cot, pushchairs....) that I need to get rid of. I don't want to spend hours ebaying it etc, but would like to make a bit of money. Is taking the good quality stuff to an NCT sale (there is one near us on Saturday).

Any tips / advice welcome!

Round here you have to sign up to sell at an NCT sale months in advance, and there's stiff competition for places.

They are a really good idea providing that a) you can get a place and b) you don't then spend all the money buying other stuff at the sale.

Thanks...well I have emailed the contact, and will see if that is the case here too.

I would hesitate over pushchairs, they often don't seem to sell at ours for some reason, unless you price them really low. Also, it is mayhem, and have heard once of someone losing an expensive pushchair, they think someone just popped a child in it when no one was looking and walked out with it as if it was their own.

Cots and stuff get snapped up though, I cleared out all my non pushchair stuff very easily via NCT sale. There are some things they won't sell for safety reasons like car seats. Even if you get a place if the sale is this Sat, it takes a long time to sort/clean all your stuff and label it up, and get it to the venue etc, might be a bit of a rush if you are working this week for example

Ooh is it our sale? It's on Saturday. If so i'm not the organiser but I am selling. The labelling doesn't take too long if you borrow the gun-thing or use safety pins. Although anything with small children "helping" takes longer Grin

If the sale is like ours it's commission based so you could sell a few bits to see how you go? But tbh I'd put the buggy in because you've got nothing to lose and ebaying/sale boards are a pain.

Just price sensibly and you'll be grand Smile

Thanks for the advice. Not Richmond - Harrow. The NCT contact said she would send some stuff through...hopefully I will make some headway, and if I don't get everything done (not a chance!!) I will know what to do for next time.

To give me an idea, we have an Ikea cot - perfect condition. Think it cost £69. Also have mattress (probably cost another £10). What would you charge?

And also for a perfectly ok, but well used P&T buggy???

IME labelling everything for an NCT sale takes as long as Ebaying. I think, because of eBay, things only sell at NCT if they are priced very low and are in fabulous condition.

Don't think mattresses are allowed at nct any more. Sold my p and t e3 with double seat, 4 years old for 150 privately this year. Agree clothes don't sell well unless very good makes and ultra cheap.
