Pictures on the wall

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post! Doesn't seem to "fit" in the DIY section.

Anyway, for ages I've wanted to hang pictures up in our living room to make it feel more homely. Ideally photos of the family plus some arty stuff like landscapes and a drawing/painting.

However I struggle as we've got two big walls (12ft wide living room with high ceilings) plus another wall with a fireplace in the middle and a small window to the right. Other wall has two sash windows.

Currently we have two large pictures on the bigger walls and a mirror above the fireplace. But there's a lot of blank wall left.

I would like to try hanging more than one thing on individual walls but I have no idea how to group things and worry it'll look rubbish.

How do you do it? Group similar pictures or go for random stuff? Also where can I get decent (but not expensive) picture frames?

Sorry for the long post!

I can't picture your walls (sleep deprivation lol) but i have a rectangular room with a big window on one wall, the wall where the fireplace is has 2 wall lights (one either side of the fire) and i have a big mirror, the next wall has a double door sized gap thru to the dining room and on one side of that gap i have 3 7x5 ish framed photo's v close together, and on the other wall i have 3 A3 sized framed photo's (mine) in a row.

All the frames are the same and a close match to the mirror frame.

When i decorate the hall i am planning on lots of photo's of all sizes spreading across the wall. Again keeping all the frames the same.

Thanks portrait, I didn't give the best description! Just wondered on tips on grouping photos or whether one large one per wall was the way to go.
