Quorn chilli advice

Intending to make Quorn chill tonight - just waiting for all the ingredients to arrive via Asda delivery - online shopping is my friend Smile
I will be making quite a big pot - can I eat some and then let the rest cool down and keep in fridge and/or freeze? I've heard you need to be quite careful with Quorny stuff - make sure it's heated correctly etc. If I can freeze do I let it thaw and then reheat in a pot or microwave? Thinking about making spag bol with mince at some point - would the same apply to mince as to Quorn dishes? Must add I am a total cooking novice so need simple, step by step instructions for most cooking related stuff Blush

You need to be careful about over cooking quorn. I don't think it would do you any harm but it doesn't taste very nice. Yes you can freeze and reheat. I always find ghat you need more oil for cooking than normal mince. It's very thirsty.

I love quorn Bol. Can I come?

Of course you can, there may be home made apple crumble for pud (Starry looks optimistically out of window for Asda van)!
So if I cook it do I leave it cool at room temp or in fridge before freezing? Then when reheating do you add a little bit of oil to the pot to 'sloosh' it about in when heating? (did I mention I was a novice at this stuff Confused?)

Let it cool properly before freezing, otherwise you'll risk partially defrosting other stuff in your freezer.

You should aim to have it cooled and in fridge/freezer with in a couple of hours of cooking, to avoid giving bacteria too much chance to breed. Reheating thoroughly before you eat it though, should dispatch any bacteria. Reheating in a microwave is good for mince/quorn things ime. You can defrost in microwave too, but I tend to just get it out the night/morning before depending on whether I want it for lunch or tea.

If you're finding it's taking a long time to cool down, DH showed me a trick of filling washing up bowl with cold water and then standing the pan in it. Refresh cold water if needs be to finish cooling.
