DH's gi comes out of the washer with sandy brown marks on it - HELP!!

dh now has a very heavy canvas gi for karate.

He sweats alot when he does karate, and was advised that the canvas gi would be better.

But the last 2 or 3 weeks it's come out of the washer with brown sandy marks on it. I try to clean the washer before he washes the gi, so it's a mystery what is happening, altho he is wondering whether it's grease from his skin which collects in the creases of the stiff canvas as it washes.
He's currently trying to scrub the marks off at the sink.

It's driving me bonkers, trying to work out what the cause is. He's going for grading in a couple of weeks, so he needs to get the gi properly clean for then...

It's skin mixed with water and then sticks in the folds of the garment.

He will probably need to do a rinse cycle and spin on a lower cycle.

He'll need to take the garment out and rub the residue of skin off before it dries.

Then he'll have to hang it up on a hangar to dry fully.

Alternatively he could take his own clothes to the laundromat.

Why are you doing his laundry for him Clumsymum??
If he can do Karate, he can wash his own clothes!!!

Zazen read my post, I'm not doing HIS LAUNDRY for him, I did say he was scrubbing it when I first posted !!

WE do THE laundry. If there are clothes that need washing, whichever of us is free puts them in the washer.

We both own this problem, but the folk he talks to on the software developer fora would be unlikely to have the expertise to offer suggestions for this problem, most being blokes (I mean blokey blokes).

Good to see you own your problem and have it under control Grin

When you said that he's "scrubbing it in the sink" I assumed that he hadn't put it in the machine or figured out the care instructions, just that he was "scrubbing it in the sink" - which for me isn't laundry, it's just "scrubbing something in the sink", because there were stains on it and he needs it clean and it didn't wash properly!

You never mentioned what cycle it had been put it on at, nor what detergent had been used, just that he was "scrubbing it in the sink", and it was driving you "bonkers" that there were stains on it.

I suggested a possible cause of the stains and a solution for you: no need to say I didn't read your post - in fact you left out a lot of pertinent information.

I feel a bit of a twunt having spent my time answering your post - the only mumsnetter to do so - and to have been told off so ungraciously.

Good luck with it Clumsymum!
