Liquid soda crystals are brilliant for greasy muck: www.thegreenstoreonline.co.uk/default.aspx/Page/97/Product/882

I got my last lot from Ocado, think loads of shops sell it though.

If you cant buy the liquid stuff in a spray bottle, you could always make some up from a packet of soda crystals (from Wilcos, chemists, supermarkets).

Oh and PS if you ever burn some food in a pan (or even cook porridge/sauces etc) some of the dry crystals and water will make it all just slide off after a bit of soaking.

Fairy power spray is brilliant.

Nearly anything will come off if you soak it long enough... even just with washing up liquid. Or you could get an oven-cleaning professional to come and do it for you!

One of DH's cousins cleans ovens for a living and he came to do ours when I was pregnant. Keeping it clean is fairly easy - I just couldn't face the initial scrubbing.
