How can I dry a wet teddy?

Ds1 told DS2 to put teddy in the pond so he did Hmm. Teddy was washed 2 days ago, I didn't spin him, but he is still too wet and DS2 is really sad without him. How can I dry him?

DD takes teddy and piggy everywhere. they regularly come home from nursery stinking (think they let her hold them at the table) so they're both old pros at a normal 40 degree cycle including spin now. they look a bit older for it, but they're clean and soon dry out after the spin.

[whispers incase extreme environmentalists try to get me] can you put the heating on for an hour and stick him on a radiator? (put all the other radiators off?)

Will he be okay on a spin?

All stuffed toys here have regularish "rides" in the washing machine, standard wash including spin, regardless of what it says on the label. I haven't killed one yet!

i spin ds2 cuddly.to dry he gets wrapped in a flannel as a towel and ds cuddles him dry!

DD's teddy regularly has a 'spa' day - She (DD is absolutely certain teddy is a girl) gets a jacuzzi followed by a sauna.

In other words, machine wash with spin cycle followed by time in the airing cupboard.

Sorrento, if you think the teddy might not stand up to the spin cycle alone, put it in a pillow case and add some towels to the machine. This will soften the blow IYSWIM.

I am going to leave him in the airing cupboard for one more night and then will try spinning him. He isn't replaceable as far as I know and I already have one child upset over a cuddly she lost. She has another identical one but clearly the one she lost is the one HmmGrin.

How is the teddy today?

sorrento56 · 25/08/2010 15:07

He is almost dry but ds said he isn't as soft as he was Sad. Any ideas for softening him up again?

Lots of cuddles!

When I wash DDs teddy, I use fabric softener. So if you have to do this again, that might be worth trying.

Thanks. I don't use FC and I am certain he won't put Teddy in the pond again. He has been really sad without him. I think he will be able to have him back at bedtime Grin.

I usually put them in the woolwash with a slow spin. usually they are dry again in the evening. so far no casualities :)
sometimes to speed drying up they get a "turkish" massage (to stay with the spa terms), rolled in a towel and jumped on to draw out as much moisture as possible :)

I didn't spin the teddy as I was worried it would kill him so that is why he was so wet. Dh squeezed him out a bit, I hadn't thought of that.
