Milkunder fridge

I had a milk leak in the fridge a while ago. I cleaned it up as well as i could but the fridge is very low and I couldn't get a mop or sponge under there properly. I aired the room for a few days and the smell went, but it's back now and I don't know what to do to get rid of it. I thought about squirting bleach under there, but don't think that will do the wooden floors any good!

It's a huge American Fridge freezer so really hard to move and I'm in rented so have to make sure whatever I do doesn't break/ruin anything.

Can anyone help?

TIA

could two of you pass a towel or some kitchen roll underneath it?

could you get some bicarb under there somehow? might absorb the smell?

Plumm · 23/08/2010 15:56

I'll try both those suggestions - thanks.

So, squirting bleach under would be a bad idea?

It would be my last resort Plumm in case it damaged the floor

Just another thought - you can get those wheely things to put under it to slide it out from places like Betterware - that might help you get to it to clean it although prob quite expensive.

I think you have to move it so you can clean properly underneath.
If you cannot move it on your own you could get someone to help you even if it's your landlord.
I'm sure if you explain that there is milk underneath going bad and possibly damaging the floor that they'll be happy to do it.

Two people can 'walk' the fridge out enough to clean underneath. Shuffle it gentle back and forth and it will come out.

It may be a bit stuck with the spilled milk but a hefty nudge ought to free it. They have little wheels on the back.

could you tie a dish cloth to the end of a ladle or similar (esp. one with a hanging hole in the end - so you can tie it to that), mop it out with this, dunked in hot soapy water? Then dry with a new cloth tied on???? If you put some white vinegar in the water it should help with the smell...

Thanks for all you replies. It looks like we'll have to move the fridge this weekend if the other solutions don't work.
