If so does anyone pay 40p or less per item?

I pay £7.50 per hour

purplepeony · 14/08/2010 16:58

No.
I looked online a while back and everyone local t o me was charging £1 a shirt- so I decided just to get on with it myself.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 14/08/2010 17:02

No - it's £1 a shirt here too.

raspberrytart · 14/08/2010 23:04

I pay £1.10 per lb + £1.20 ( I think) for work shirts.
I like that its all hung up beautifully and folded nicely so you just have to pop them in the draw-also I HATE ironing.

raspberrytart · 14/08/2010 23:08

Oh god that sounds so poncey-of course its not hung up beautifully - its just hung up, FGS!

bran · 14/08/2010 23:12

My cleaner does DH's shirts for £1 a shirt, nothing else ever needs to be ironed.

soremummy · 14/08/2010 23:15

Iwould happily be paid for ironing! Its so satisfying when it all done and hung up or am i shallow

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 15/08/2010 09:00

I bought a steam generator iron recently, and I actually enjoy ironing now - gets through the pile in no time, with a very satisfying hssssssss as you go along

Lucy88 · 16/08/2010 14:03

Think I must get a really good deal.

I pay £12 for 25 items (2 of DS's count as 1 item) and anything over 25 items is 40p.

She picks up and drops off (all neat on hangers) for this price.

JaxTellersOldLady · 16/08/2010 14:06

lucy, where are you? I would like your ironing person!

I have someone who collects and drops off, charges £1 per item so it doesnt matter if it is one of husbands shirts or a super kingsize duvet cover it is £1... so I only send out the shirts and duvet covers, anything else nothing much I do myself.

upahill · 16/08/2010 14:07

Don't need to because DH does most of it especially the shirts and trousers that I never touch and my 'fiddly' tops as he calls them ( the ones with a pleat in or something that stops them being straight forward to iron)

nappyaddict · 16/08/2010 16:15

Lucy Where abouts are you?

bran What about pleated stuff or linen stuff. Don't you find that needs to be ironed?

I pay my cleaner £10 for a black bin liner full - she picks up and drops off. I hate ironing.

grumblegrumble · 16/08/2010 16:40

I pay £22 for 35 items. Worth every single penny.

NOTHEROLDIE · 16/08/2010 16:43

Crikey, I used to do ironing, it only takes a few minutes to do a shirt, even the really fiddly ones you can get about 10 done in an hour... geez I was under paid! A quid a shirt, blimey.

MrsJohnDeere · 16/08/2010 16:55

£1 per item here (Herts)

champagnesupernova · 16/08/2010 17:08

lucy (stupid question alert) does she provide the hangers?
