Anyone know if you can machine wash these? I would risk it but am a bit worried about the chime thing inside it and can't find same one online anymore. It's filthy!

TIA.

i have a Jelly Kitten musical bunny, really cute face, (pink and white striped tee shirt and legs) which i got recently from John Lewis, cost about £12 i think. On its label (attached to its little bunny bum) it says nothing about washing but gives address :Jellycat Ltd PO Box 18931 London W14 0YF - and specifies polyester fibres throughout. I'd suggest either emailing JellyCat for advice via Google, or ring up John Lewis and ask if their musical bunnies are washable. Mine has a pull cord under tummy and plays a lullaby. Might do as substitute if all else fails? Good luck!

Thanks Persimum. I had a look in a local shop this afternoon and they have a similar-ish one with a pull-cord that plays a lullaby, so I might bear that one in mind as well. DD's one is just pink with long arms and legs and makes a lovely jingly sound when shaken, essential for bedtime and waking-up time! Smile

Glad to have been of help. Our bunny's tune is really hypnotic, brilliant for insomniacs of all ages! Your jingly sound sounds lovely though. Hope it sorts out for you.

At worst you could always spray bunny with a water and baby shampoo mix, then spray again with clear water and pat her dry on a towel. That might get the worst off. But surely if they make these things for little kids, they must intend you to wash them properly from time to time. If they are huggable, they will sometimes need a scrub.

We had a little friend once who had a rabbit that he couldn't bear to have washed cos it smelt lovely with his own special smell. It started life as a white rabbit and became deep beige, but was always well loved. :)

Yep, think I might just spray it, but don't want to lose the special smell either! DD obviously doesn't care what it looks like (at 13m), more for me really!

That's what my friend, mum to the little guy who loved his rabbit, said. She felt a bit embarrassed about its colour change when her friends saw it, but when she washed it, he was very upset and said it didn't smell right and wanted her to get the smell back! It did come back after a lot of cuddling again, but it took a while!

I guess one just has to go with the flow. if DD loves rabbit as rabbit is, then maybe make rabbit a camouflage outfit if its going out anywhere, otherwise if its just in the cot, maybe it can just remain a shabby happy rabbit. :)

Hmm, yes, I think bunny may just remain a shabby old cloth bunny Smile

Well, there are worse fates in life. At least bunny is much loved by a very special small person. Who could ask for more? :)

We've got the chime bunny and it has survived a machine wash! (God, I was brave...!)

Species8472 · 13/09/2010 11:27

Thanks! I'll bear that in mind if bunny gets too grimy for comfort Smile
