Reddish Mud on Beige Carpet-Lots-HELP!

Having garden done at the moment and so currently have a huge mudbath as a garden.
My darling 5yr old decided to let both cats and the dog in through the lounge yesterday-several times, after they had been racing around on said mudbath.

I now have reddish mud all over my downstairs carpet (which is everything bar playroom and kitchen.

I left it overnight to dry,in the hope that the hoover (my beloved Sebo) would solve the problem.

It has "helped" but I still have reddish stains everywhere.

Anyone have any ideas?

I was thinking stiff brush and hoover again (will take ages).I really can't afford to have all the carpets cleaned and also dont fancy hiring one of thos machines.
Past experience has taught me that once you use carpet cleaners, carpets get dirtier quicker.

Sorry for ramble- all suggestions gratefully received.

When you say beige do you mean cream? I get emulsion paint off carpets with neat vinegar. Leave on for over an hour (start somewhere it doesn't show to trial it). Or talcum powder?

Sprinkle the talc on then brush off with yr stiff brush. It's worth a try and may well lighten the stains. Smile

Vanish mousse in an aerosol is my best friend. Grin

Thank you!
Would prefer to try the "dry" method first,Carpet is same colour as a rich tea biscuit Grin
I reckon I would need a bulk delivery of vanish...so...off to buy some talc in Aldi tomorrow morning.

You could also try bicarb of soda ;try it dry first if it doesn't work then make it into a paste with lemon juice (let it bubble up before using).

Will update on (hopefully) success tomorrow!
