How much housework do you do a week- and what?

I feel I hardly do any. Have 1 adult DC at home so he does his own cleaning- or not ( bedroom and bathroom) which leaves the rest of the house for me to do.)

Bathroom gets done almost daily ( my en suite anyway.)

Hall hoovered 3-4 times aweek, lounge once a week etc.

Kitchen floor hoovered almost daily ( tiles) and washed once a week.

Bedroom hoovered weekly or fortnightly.

Dusting when I can write my name in it.

Window cleaning, fridge cleaning etc as and when.

Well, you certainly do more than me - life's too short for housework. I hoover about once every 10 days - kitchen floor washed about once a fortnight (obviously spills are cleared up) ... bathrooms (ie: the one I use !) - most days. I did clean a few windows yesterday - out of boredom! Dusting as and when. I am always amazed by people who say they have to hoover every day (assume it's if you have pets - which I would never have.)

well I am house/pet sitting for my neighbour who doesn't work at all outside the home and has 1 DC at home; her house looks immaculate all the time, so I just assumed I was a slut..and harldy do any?

I try to keep to a routine during term-time - doesn't work so well during the holidays! So

Sunday: ironing
Thursday: dusting/polishing; hoovering; clean bathrooms; sweep and wipe down conservatory; clean kitchen.
Saturday: change beds and towels; laundry

Windows get done every now and then; fridge wiped out when I'm putting the grocery shopping away each week.

Hoovering done as and when needed apart from Thursdays - usually two or three times a week (cats...)

Must add, I only have one DC but I do work - your neighbour sounds as if she has time to keep hers immaculate!

Bathroom gets a wipe over daily, cleaned properly weekly.
Hoover at least every other day.
Dust once a week (DD mainly does this because I hate it).
Change beds weekly.
Mop kitchen and bathroom floors every other day unless spills.
Clean windows when I can no longer see out.
Clean oven every other month.
Iron everything because I enjoy it.
Fridge monthly before I get my big online shop.
Freezer when I can hardly shut the door.

I hate cleaning, it's boring, I do it because I have to.

It really depends on what I'm working each week. If I'm on nightshift it's the bare minimum- Bathroom, hoover and kitchen. Try and put on a washing every day.

Beds once a week, dust every 2nd day. I have a fairly small house so it doesn't take too long. My bedroom is always a tip though- everything gets shoved in there.

I've always given ds's small chores but over the summer holidays they've been responsible for keeping the livingroom/dining area clean and tidy, emptying the bins and unloading the dishwasher. Amazing how much this has helped.

I hate cleaning too.

I am a working mum. I hoover once or twice a week downstairs and once a fortnight upstairs

I rarely dust.

The bathrooms are only cleaned once a week

I do a lot of washing and ironing and also cook from scratch but cleaning is not my fave job

well, I hate it too- apart from bathrooms as then you can really see the difference.
But if it gets left, the place seems to get grubby so fast!

No sooner have i dealt withthe cobwebs than more appear- overnight.

We have pine skirtngs and window ledges and they show every layer of dust.

My kitchen floor is ceramic- pale cream- so any dirty foot prints show immediately, as do food crumbs.

We are not double glazed/UPVC so the window frames get mouldy in winter and need all the black cleaning off.

Vacuum daily, mop kitchen floor daily, clean bathrooms daily......god it's so tedious isn't it when you think about it.

I had a cleaner once after I'd been quite ill, who did the "big jobs" but in the end I decided that you need one every day almost or it's not worth it.
Though I'd happily farm out my ironing which I HATE.

CLena thee bathroom once a week with wipe overs as and when in between.

Hoover about 3 times a week.
Dust when needed.

Kitchen tops daily, kitchen floor when neeeded.
I dont like housework but I do like a clean house.

I don't think I've ever cleaned the skirtings, and I've lived here for 9 years, yet I have been known to get out the ironing board for a pair of socks or a duster.

CouldOf....but that's why you should wear socks- for wiping the skirtings as you walk by!!!

Why do some of you hoover & wash floors daily? Does it mean I am a slut for not doing it daily?

I have the time - just not the inclination - I am not aware that my house is filty, people accept invitations, seem to be happy to come and stay with me ........ I keep things tidy - but just clean rarely.

Ragwort, I have a red carpet and a child who breeds crumbs. I have to hoover often, or get her to hoover or it looks awful.

This is not a joke but my gran- who'd be about 115 if she were alive, used to polish/clean floors by walking around in old thick socks.

i must be the only one here who loves cleaning then! The way i look at it is as long as the kitchen and bathroom are clean and the house is generally tidy, thats all that matters. I clean the kitchen daily, bathroom twice a week plus a squirt ot domestos down the loo daily, and hoover when needed.

Daily jobs are sweeping the floors downstairs (tiled kitchen and wooden floor in sitting room), laundry & ironing (DD is in terries & reusable wipes so I always have a lot of washing), brush the stair carpets, vacuum either the 1st or 2nd floor. We have cream carpets and 4 black cats so I have to keep on top of it. I clean down the kitchen every night, worktops get cleaned when I have finished doing something on them. I clean the loo, basin and bath daily. I also clean the windowsills downstairs daily as the cats sit on them

Weekly jobs :
Mon - scrub bathroom floor, dust the nursery & bathroom, clean and descale the shower
Tues - Dust the banisters and skirting up the stairs, make bread
Weds - Clean fridge, scrub kitchen floor, clean the kitchen cupboard doors, clean the oven hob and front of the oven, change the bed
Thus - Empty all the bins, clean inside the windows, make bread, clean skirting and fireplace downstairs
Fri - Do our leather sofa, polish the glass
display cupboards in the sitting room, polish the mirrors, oil the slate hearth
Sat - Don't do anything other than basics
Sun - Change the bed and the cot linen. Clean the bedroom. Have a sort through the freezers and clean the doors.

I also cook from scratch and spend a lot of time making bread/cakes etc

Just me and OH... we dont smoke and no pets or children, and our house always looks clean

my cleaner comes weekly and
gives whole house a thorough hoover
gives whole house a thorough dust
deep cleans both the bath rooms
deep cleans kitchen surfaces
sweeps and hoovers kitchen floor
washes kitchen floor
emptys all the bins
changes our bed linen

i just wipe down kitchen surfaces, and sweep the kitchen floor if necessary.
everything thing else stays looking clean until she coms the next week
sometimes i migth put a bit of loo cleaner in the loo

we have lovely soft water so no water marks

fibilou- exhausted just reading it. I never "get" people who do the same thing on the same day every week.

I'm a butterfly- as and when, flitting from room to room.

Goes without saying that kitchen worktops are cleaned constantly, and front of units if they get splashed.

I think one of the problems in my house is sheer lack of space. We have 4 bedroooms, 2 baths and 3 receptions, but I also have 2 adult kids, one of whom is living back home from uni, the other is still at uni and they have masses of books, and possessions so every room is chock-a-block.

Fibilou I really wish I could do as well as you do. Do you work as well?
