What can I do with all of my muslins?

Having a proper clear out at the moment and have found about twenty muslins from my DC's babyhood. They are in lovely condition but some of them are dyed (I had a thing about not wanting pastels so they are purple, red etc) so I don't think they would be any good in food preparation.
So - what do you use yours for?

I misread this as "What shall I do with all of my muslims" and thought that it was a strange question to ask.

No idea, I think my mum used to use them to make Clootie Dumpling.

LOL me too MmeLindt ...thought she might have been collecting them!

What about making those...pomanders are they called? Sort of like put fluff inside with a few drops of an aroma and fasten it up and stick it in your knicker drawer or clothes closet?

I am such a novice at anything doemstic that I can't think what to do with them...

We cut ours up and use them as general cleaning cloths.

in addition to kitchen usage, I use mine for face cleansing, but I think that the same problems might apply with the dyed ones?

and they are brilliant for cleaning the screens of my iphone and laptop

clemetteattlee · 04/08/2010 12:12

Ah, aquavit, that might be the way forward...making my gadgets shiny is more appealing than actually cleaning...

mmm shiny gadgets

it was a brilliant discovery in fact because I have all these stupid mini muslins which are otherwise useless but GREAT for iphone shining (ordered from mothercare website when v pregnant and a bit dim - think they are supposed to be used in place of cotton wool balls by crazy people)

Lemonylemon · 04/08/2010 12:41

I separated mine out into two lots. Dyed one lot a pale colour and the other lot a dark colour and use them as hand towels and tea towels.

muddlinleigh · 05/08/2010 12:17

They make great glass cloths.

I used some of the ones my mum had for us for my lot. They've lasted better than the new ones

I would just keep them and use them as jobs came up, crabapple jelly etc.

Thanks everyone

We have a drawerful ready to grab if spillage occurs. We call them blast shields for a reason...
