Is there such a thing as a duvet protector - bedwetting

DS1 keep wetting the bed but because he sleeps on his back he keeps wetting his duvet.

Obviously I can't keep washing it. Is there anything you can do to protect it. 2 duvet covers doesn't work as everything then gets wet

ive been wondering this -have washed the duvet once and so far been dry since but just in case
TBH at the moment we are using blankets anyway, too hot for a duvet

not duvet protectors, but there anti-allergy ones which are wipe clean.

Argos do a setwhich has a plastic sheet, duvet cover and pillow cover. Wee bit rustly but not too bad. HTH

While the weather is warm I would dispense with the duvet - you could just use the cover as a top sheet or if it's a bit cooler put a fleece blanket inside the cover. How old is your ds? Are you sure he should not still be in pull-ups?

I've started another thread about this in sleep.

He's 4.5 and was dry at night for ages. It's only been the last 3 or 4 weeks that he's started wetting the bed again. might be anxiety about starting school, might be jut that he's so knackered at the moment he's sleeping very deeply.

He would be very upset to go back into pull ups (it's been over 6 months now).

I've found a waterproof duvet cover from hippychick with doesn't rustle (it claims) but it's £50

We had years and years of one or other DC bedwetting. Waterproof duvet covers are stiff, sweaty and rustly, and not at all snuggly.

We bought cheap, thin duvets, and a washing machine with a bigger drum. A tumble dryer is a must too.

I must've washed at least one duvet most days for over ten years.

Another idea is to buy one of those duvets which are in two pieces zipped together - you unzip them when you need to wash it. That way it fits into your own machine, rather than having to take it to a laundrette.

If a protective cover is £50, tbh it will be cheaper to buy a cheap duvet & replace it when it gets too stinky (you can spray it with febreeze & dry it outdoors in between washes)

You need to look at incontinence sites like this just to give you an idea of cost, this one is £10.20!

My sister in law works for a company but they only sell to nursing homes/hospitals etc which is how I knew they existed (catalogue from her work place is fascinating) which is why I know to look at incontinence sites.

I did as Butterbut did, went for cheap thin duvets and wash repeatdly. 4.5 tog duvets fit into our machine fine

It does get easier - my bed wetter used to wet the sheet, waterproof sheet, duvet, duvet cover, pillow, pillowcase, pjs and cuddly toy! she eventually got the hang of keeping off the pillow.....

Pampers do quite big bed mats that are waterproof and disposable. Am sure you could find some way to attach it over the top of the duvet, that way you'd only have to wash the duvet cover and the duvet should be protected.

I also bought a cheap say £4 duvets from asda, 4.5 tog, and wash it with the solied linen,
never even use a tumble dryer, even though my 2 lovely sons sleep so sound that bedwetting does not wake them up !

SparkyToo · 06/08/2010 20:47

What you need is a duvet you can wash at home. My boys have this one, which you're not supposed to tumble-dry but this duvet dries in a couple of hours when hung out. That's a lot faster than their mattress protectors! I don't worry about over-washing them as it doesn't affect them one bit, they're great. Plus I have boys and I'm constantly washing them due to bedwetting accidents!
