Vorwerk vacuum cleaner- worth £1000?

MIL has a bee in her bonnet and wants a new Vorwerk, despite her old one having been in bits for 15 years.

She has a dog and her Oreck isn't powerful enough to get all the hair. She refuses to countenance a Miele cat and dog as she hates cylinders and the upright is too heavy.

Does anyone have any experience? I have to go and watch the instructional DVD tomorrow. It's her money of course and she can afford it but she never has much luck with appliances and I don't want her to spend thus much for another disappontment.

for that money I'd want it to hoover by itself and then make me a cup of tea

Quite. I struggle to see why she wants a new one when she has an old one in bits anyway. It is apparently a doddle to repair.
