Toddler proof bin to bathroom

Does such a thing exist?
I am sick of telling ds not to go fishing in the pedal bin in the bathroom! It's only make up wipes and snotty tissues but I'd much rather he wasn't messin with it.

No one ever tells you how fast or sneaky toddlers are!

Can you put the bin in the cupboard and then toddler proof the door? This is what we have done.

IMoveTheStars · 27/07/2010 08:44

I've never come across such a thing. The answer is no bin in the bathroom I think.
If it's just wipes and tissues can't they just go down the loo?

purpletrees · 27/07/2010 08:46

I had no bin in the bathroom when mine were this age.

belgo · 27/07/2010 08:46

Wipes should not go down the loo!

Lionstar · 27/07/2010 08:48

A small container with a lid on the side out of reach? In our local hardware shop they do mini swing lid bins that would fit on a side.

Have to admit we don't have a bin in the bathroom though, and the one in the bedroom is on top of the chest of drawers.

IMoveTheStars · 27/07/2010 08:50

really belgo? how come?

mousymouse · 27/07/2010 08:51

keep the door to the bathroom shut.
that*s what we do.

belgo · 27/07/2010 08:51

Because they are made of plastic, cannot dissolve, will block the pipes and then drift out to sea.

IMoveTheStars · 27/07/2010 08:52

even the kandoo ones?

mousymouse · 27/07/2010 08:52

the wipes don*t dissolve in the water like the toilet paper. they can and do block the pipes.

belgo · 27/07/2010 08:53

I don't know the kandoo ones, but if they are wipes then the same applies. Only toilet paper should go down the toilet.

belgo · 27/07/2010 08:58

and those extra large, extra strong tissues probably shouldn't go down the toilet either. Not to mention all the extra water used to flush it all away.

Seona1973 · 27/07/2010 09:03

kandoo wipes are flushable. ordinary baby wipes/face wipes are not. We have open top bins in the bathroom. Luckily neither of my lo's were interested in them. Is it the pedal and the flippy lid that is making the bin attractive?

mrsflux · 27/07/2010 11:46

cheers ladies!

looks like i'll have to get rid of it as we don't have a cupboard. ds is in to every type of bin as he loves taking things in and out of containers at the minute.
keeping him out the bathroom only works so much as i often have to take him in with me when i go to the loo.

its a pain as its the only bin upstairs (apart from nappy bin). maybe i'll have to look for a little table top one.

we have the bin in the bathroom next to the loo in the corner right in front of the bin we have the washing basket (tall stainless steel one) so we can still use it but dc don*t have access to it.
