100% cotton school shirts?

I fancy the idea of ds having pure cotton shirts for school, but will I come to regret it?
DH and I have some pure cotton shirts for work and we manage to iron them alright , but if you look on the M&S website everyone is bleating about the ironing.
How bad can it be?

Don't know about school shirts, but I would only ever have pure cotton bedlinen and you wouldn't believe the level of horror my mother expresses at every opportunity - 'but the IRONING!!!' It's worth the extra work to have nice sheets, so perhaps same thing applies to shirts?

Ime you will regret it if you wash them on a programme that has a very fast spin. If you wash and then spin on slow spin (use delicates cycle) then this will help.

As I never iron anything (what a waste of time) it would be my idea of hell.

God no I only buy the non-iron ones, in fact NOTHING is allowed in our house if it needs ironing.

I don't know where our iron is, I have one but I haven't seen it for well over a year

I bought cotton shirts for DD1 about 3 years ago and although they felt nice on her when she wore them, all she did was complain how creased they became when she wore them.
All the other kids had non iron ones and after a few hours in school she would take her jumper off and all her friends would start asking her why her clothes were all creased!
So a nice idea in theory to have them but practically they were a chuffing nightmare...don't do it!

Only problem with this is...... it destroys the planet. So no big deal then? Polyester fibres are one of the worst pollutants of the modern age. Everytime you wash one of these garments you almost irrevocably damage the oceans and marine life (and freshwater streams depending on how the sewerage runs in a given area). I would not touch polyester ever, evil material designed to keep us plebs down by slow poison I'm afraid, it is to us what lead was to the Romans. Look into it. Knowledge is power. Use Cotton, Wool, Flax and a hundred other fibres out there! Empower yourself and your children and leave them a half-decent world to live in.

As with anything cotton, ironing is faster if you iron them when damp rather than dry.

I’d love to Charleneeeeeeeee, and I would if I could home ed, but it’s a done deal on the polyester as nearly every item on the school uniform list includes polyester!
