How do I get my bath properly, sparklingly clean?

I admit to being a slattern when it comes to the bath. I don't like cleaning it so I give it a quick scrub every once in a while. But I want it sparkling (not least because my parents are coming and Notice These Things ). The main problem is that it's a bit grubby where my feet go when I stand to have a shower. I wear flip flops pretty much all year and as a result my feet get filthy . Am off to the supermarket in a while to stock up on cleaning products as I seem to have developed something of a nesting syndrome since the holidays began a mere day ago and my children started trashing the house

Have you tried filling up with hot water and adding some biological washing powder and leaving for a couple of hours?

FreakoidOrganisoid · 22/07/2010 11:51

The bio works but make sure you rinse it all properly afterwards.

Viakal v good for sparkliness too

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/07/2010 12:09

I thik if you use any of the limescale destroyers it will help a lot - dirt seems to embed itself in limescale.

Sorry know this isn't my thread - but thank you so much for suggestions not involving scrubbing! I will deff try the washing powder thing, bath is ever so easy to rinse with the shower hose.

Thank you!

Bleach and a clean toilet brush.

ppeatfruit · 22/07/2010 13:15

Soak bath in very hot water and white vinegar alot! White vinegar is great against calcareous marks; instead you can scrub with WV and those special micro cloths.

CIF!!!!! works a treat

chocolatefroggie · 22/07/2010 15:29

dish washer tablet in a full bath works a treat just rinse well afterwards!

Cilit bAng cleaner and plastic scourer to clean. Then buff it with a dry cloth. I just did my shower like that and sadly sat admiring it for a minute r 2

ditto cif, plus buff with a dry cloth (I use an old tea towel)

bibbitybobbityhat · 22/07/2010 19:07

Is it enamel or plastic? Don't, whatever you do, use cif on a plastic bath.

ZeppoMarx · 22/07/2010 19:10

Ooo really?
I've had two excitable children here today so still haven't got round to it. It's a horrible green plastic bath, I hadn't realised that would make a difference so thank goodness I've not done it yet. WHat is best on plastic??

I use cif on plastic baths all the time. You shouldn't use the ajax type scouring cream, but cif cream doesn't scratch, it is the scourer you use it with that scratches.

bibbitybobbityhat · 23/07/2010 15:56

Cif is an abrasive cream. The particles are not as large as in scourers like Ajax, but it is abrasive nonetheless.

RipMacWinkle · 23/07/2010 18:58

Sorry to be completely dense but our bath is acrylic (fancy name for plastic isn't it?)

I've been using Cif. Is this wrong?!?!
