Wondering if anyone knows if Sicily Park finaghy Belfast is a mixed area ? I was under the impression it was mixed, however seen a few flags in the area lately. Looking at mixed areas for upcoming house purchase.

The answer is it depends. The main road and closer to the cross roads is mixed, and some streets coming off it are mixed but the estate behind Sicily is very loyalist and a big UDA area.

Where are you moving from?

Most mixed areas will have flags at this time of year.

I am from Derry, so have quite a strong distinct accent. And my partner from Dublin. So we really need somewhere mixed. Thank you so much for the information. This is really helpful.

Honestly accents really aren’t too much of an issue these days.

Overall Sicily park is mixed, although often mixed leans more Protestant, but it’s near Taughmonah which is very loyalist and also Erinvale on the other side of finaghy road south so you will get flags bleeding out over the 12th.
Also the marches go up the Lisburn road.

But over all it’s fine, I’m from a very nationalist background with an English DH and considered finaghy.

Name changed as could be identifiable but we moved to Locksley Park (the street beside Sicily) a few years ago. The bottom of Sicily, Locksley and Priory are all very quiet + mixed, it’s when you get past the cross roads at Locksley Gardens and into Taughmonagh estate etc that it becomes very loyalist/UDA territory and the flags really start.

I was apprehensive safety wise since we moved here from a quiet suburban housing development but honestly I’ve been so pleasantly surprised and we are now buying in BT10 due to this. We’ve had absolutely no trouble - our lovely neighbours on both sides are catholic and everyone is very happy here. Yes near the twelfth you’ll hear bands and have bonfires nearby but it’s peaceful and they keep to themselves. The location is just amazing - walking distance of Lisburn Rd and everything it has to offer alongside brilliant public transport links and easy access to the motorways + outer ring. No idea how we ever lived without Creighton’s garage either🤣 We’ve been very spoilt living here!
