Not their actual names though?
So, a refugee from Kosovo; or someone arriving from the West Indies for work?

  1. Arrived 2001 from Kosovo
I miss my old country, but since the war nothing has been the same. I hope to find work in the country side or in a factory so I can support my family.
  1. Arrived 1956 from Jamaica.
The weather is too cold over here and I miss the open spaces of Jamaica. But I'm here in London to get a good job so I can bring my young family over and give them opportunities I never had at home.
  1. Arrived 4000 BC from Europe with their tribe, to farm
Life is hard, I have lost a lot of siblings and my mother during child birth. I'm hoping that I can reach my 21st birthday and live to an old age of 30.
  1. Arrived 48 AD - a centurion with the Roman army
The people are so backwards here from living just as farmers. The Romans will give them bring them into the future and make sure they'll go to heaven. I don't understand why they're complaining...
Anasnake · 18/11/2017 20:05

What's the question ? It tells you who they are

superram · 18/11/2017 20:07

Roman invader, kosovan refugee, economic migrant from Jamaica and emigrant/settler to farm.

Snap8TheCat · 18/11/2017 20:07

Can you explain a bit more?

cdtaylornats · 18/11/2017 22:24

The Roman would be coming into a Britain where the south was pacified. London was building and the road network was stretching out. Arriving in 48 AD he might be subject to guerilla raids by Caratacus. By 51 AD Caratacus was defeated near the river Severn.

As a centurion he would be commanding between 80 and 200 men. He would be literate and a master of the common weapons and tactics. He would be reasonably well paid compared to a normal legionary at least twice and perhaps much more. The equivalent rank in today's army would be captain. He was responsible for training, exercising and disciplining his men.

If he was still around by 60 AD he might have seen Boudicca burning London.

There are letters found at Vindolanda that show a man who was leading an outpost - so possibly a centurion - asking his commander to send more beer.

Some of them might have wives with them or have local woman.

One thing to note was they in all probability not have been native Romans - German, Dutch, Belgian and Spanish natives all served in Britain.

From 63 AD he would have seen Christianity begin to spread.

Whoops! Thank you all so much for your responses ... my hubbie arrived home & just explained its much more simple than that...we just need to put whether they are refugees; settlers; asylum seekers etc ..... not the actual name of the person! Silly me Blush
