Hi there,
Is this an "on the spur of the moment" visit?
I mean, did they contact you to let you know/ask if it was convenient or anything? Have you known for a while now and said that they are welcome? (iyswim)

Remember they are not inspectors nor are they the police. They are simply a liason between the LEA and yourself because you are the person legally responsible for your child(rens) education. If you're not ready for the visit ring your local LEA and ask for it to be put off until you are ready, and remember also that the LEA do not have a legal right to enter your property, examine you or your child(ren). The EWO generally is there to see what provision you are making for your child(ren) to learn.
The first one who came here was awful as we don't do a lot of paperwork, the second was brilliant.
Do you have any specific worries/questions?

Good Gawd no, they should not expect anything much at all if you've only just de-regged him! Anyhow you are quite within your legal rights NOT to follow the NC at all, if you so choose.

If your goal is to get him back into school then they should be concentrating on working towards supporting you both not judging how much written work he's showing.

Good luck.

As kaytee says, they wont expect much this early on! Try to mostly listen to what the EWO says because that way you answer what they want instead of feeding them with anything they don;t need to know. Try to be positive. As a parent it is your right and you have done nothing wrong, and nor do you really have to explain why you removed him. They should be a lot of help to you.
Good luck.

Educational Social Workers should be able to give parents and children real support, but most of them are poor communicators.
