I expect some of you know I took ds out of school in reception. He;s been at a different school now since september, but the work is a real struggle for him as I suspect he has dyslexia, and the school isn't attempting to address this.

He's really anxious, please see my thread here (last few posts)

and I can't think what to do to help.

He likes some subjects and has a couple of friends but generally feels quite awkward and the other kids are having a go as he is so behind.

Feel helpless - I don't want him to feel he's failed, or be lonely again (I struggle socially so school was good from that PoV) but he's crying at bedtime telling me these things, and it's breaking my heart.

Julie, yes I understand and it was me getting confused, not you - i couldn't figure out why you were on about SEN when of course it was me who mentioned the possible dyslexia...I think I must have been very tired when I was writing!!

I thought you were referring to the bit about aspergers. Which is me not them.

Argh. Sorry.

Filly, am halfway through that link and enjoying it very much! Will finish it when the boyz have been quieted, we all just got up.

Many many thanks all of you. Plan is to have words with Mrs thing tomorrow, and see if she is amenable to altering the situation somewhat. I'm not actually sure how often he is being made to stay behind, as he can't explain things in those terms very well yet, so will ask her first how often it happens and go from there.

Will report back!

Also I didn't know about subsidies. I'll try and make inroads about that too.
