Has anyone tried applying for funding through extended services to provide sports or dance lessons etc for your home education group?

No - personally wouldn't want to touch it with a bargepole for our HE group!

chatterbocs · 02/03/2009 20:01

Does your group not do any sports or PE of any kind?

No, but even if they did, would want to steer clear of any gov funding - I couldn't see me persuading other members of our group to do it either.

Is your group very structured?

chatterbocs · 02/03/2009 20:13

We wanted some dance lessons & if we can hire a hall for free it would obviously keep costs down. It does say opportunities for ALL children.
Anyway, stuctured or unstructured if we want access to things then it should be available to us.

Sounds great - agree it should be available, I just wouldn't want it myself

chatterbocs · 02/03/2009 20:42

Why!

Because all funding needs checking up on.

Got to agree with Lindenlass...very very wide berth. Long, very long barge pole

Does anyone know of other funding available? We are trying to access some here in Brum --- although I have to agree with the other comments in as much as I think the strings attached to OFSTED funding would be unworkable for HE.
I would be really interested in knowing how it progresses chatterbocs, if you proceed.
Good luck

Rooftop, Worcs home educators got some funding locally-the teens themselves had to apply, backed by one responsible adult.
Didn't have to jump through so many hoops and not tied with razor wire either.

They got £1500 which they used to pay for drama lessons and then put on a street theatre performance in Malvern and Hereford. They researched what they wanted, designed the costumes the props, organised filming and music.

Picture from the event at the bottom of the HE webpage.

Remind me at the meeting this month and I'll introduce you to the responsible adult who found the funding in the first place.

Hi julienoshoes,

chatterbocs · 03/03/2009 21:26

Thanks Julie, how did they go about applying?

I'll find out more details when next I meet the parent who was the responsible adult at the time.
If you want to email me off list about this chatterbocs-send a message via the contact link on our local HE website link should now be working!

chatterbocs · 04/03/2009 04:17

Thank you
