He'll be starting next September after finishing KS2, and he is already impressed that he will be able to do maths lessons in his pyjamas.
He'll be doing KS3 following the NC and then (hopefully) going on to IGCSEs and A levels
It feels like a big step and we've agreed that we'll try it and see how it goes.
He'll be in a smaller group than at our local comp and will be taught in a group set by ability, rather than age.
I'm sad that he won't be able to do GCSEs in stuff like art and drama, which requires coursework - but feel pleased that he won't have the pressure of having to fit in to a huuuuuge school after being the oldest child in the first cohort of a new primary school.
This all feels strange. I am the child of a teacher and went to a state comp myself - but the standard of our local school is so poor that I feel we have no option.
He's also looking forward to having every afternoon to do his own thing and I'm already thinking that we can eventually travel with all of our boys, as long as we have computer access during term times.
