Anyone Use @School Website

Am deffo going to h/e but feeling bit daunted starting out, I will get in touch with some other h/e people but just wondered if anyone has used the @school website and what you tink.

Seems like an ideal place to start for us - I am not totally into a fully structured or fully autonomous way of doing things but this looked like it would give me a teaching backup - especially when i am dealing with ds who is only 1, then I could spend the time adding to the subject which she found interesting, am probably going to get a maths and english tutor as well this is dp's only thing about doing h/e altho he is fully supportive and would pull her from school tomorrow whereas i want to wait until half term, also it is very reasonable ay only £9.99 for 3 months

Well done BTT, its quite a relief that bits over isnt it

I told our neighbor that dd wouldnt be getting on the school bus - she looked at me with absolute disgust (we dont get on anyway) and said well thats a real shame for willow isnt - she wont have any friends,

Considering that she left the school without them even giving her a card I would say she wont be missing out on much

I have booked her into the kids club weds - fri next week, its 10 acres of open countryside, they make dens, look after a pony, sheep and mini pig, do camp fires ect

We started a maths, spelling and writing book - well got them ready, its only going to be really simple stuff, but feels good for putting something on paper

HHave a great day, am busy most of the weekend but will catch up tuesday, take care x

Unfortunately, every time something bad happens to any child who wasn't in school, there's a sudden "We've got to protect these children!" backlash. Oh yeah right, you're so great at protecting the children who are registered in school. And all the ones who are known to social services. And all the children in care. Maybe LAs might like to sort that lot out before starting on the easy target of HE families?

Anyway, Lupins & btt - welcome to the wonderful world of home ed - you won't regret it I'm sure!

Thankyou everyone ,I was shocked at the comment and the more I think of it the angrier I feel but I did tell her she was welcome to drop in anytime or send whoever she wishes silly moo they are going to be seeing her around school anyway when she comes and picks up her siblings so I think they will notice if she suddenly drops a stone .
She said she had never ever dealt with a deregistration before and the SN teacher had dealt with one !!! I had to tell them who to inform and what they needed to do next .

lupins I am ery at the kids club it sounds great I want to go lol ,I'm going to have to look into somethings for Lucy .
I have ordered a lot of supplies from asda folders and paper is very cheap .
We have decided that our first crafty thing is going to make a blanket together once I work out how to do it

Have a great weekend Lupins .

Thankyou everyone for the support and help I don't think I would have been this confident doing it alone

I wouldn't bother with @school website tbh. It's literally just a resource of other website links. Or if you do subscribe make sure you save the links soewhere so when the subscription runs out you still have the resources

We use Enchantedlearning (very good value for money) and sometimes starfall.

The best we've found is NC based Educationcity.

My kids absolutely adore this site. I was a bit at the cost £30 per year per child, but it's been worth it in spades.

Hi BTT

Welcome to HE I am in Sheffield too, there is a lot going on here, so come along

Are you on the local yahoo group? It is the best thing to join as everything that is happening is posted on there.Search for SYHEC at yahoo groups.

There is a drama group which will restart on June 10th if your dd is into that, most of the children really enjoy it.

We had 73 children at the group meeting last week, there are new people every week, it is amazing The next meeting in June 3rd, as we don't meet there in the school holidays.

See you soon

BTT hows it going, hope you had a nice week, dd loved kids club and the lady who runs it is all for home ed - so much so that she said dd is welcome to go along there 2-3 mornings a week, she said she can get away with it saying it would be social - altho i would have to pay for the place, but its so lovely - loads of animals, woodland and they do lots of craft stuff, have also joined the tamar valley yahoo home ed group, they do weekly coffee mornings and an outing once a month, hope your ok - will remember to email you when i can
