How do you transit to home Ed?

We are considering moving abroad for extended period of time (a few months or longer/possibly permanent to spend time with family). While we are making up our mind while there i thought of transiting to home education.
Can anyone explain please how the transition happens, how long it takes, do we need to do any formal exams (primary school) in person?
Thank you

It depends where you are moving to! Every country has its own laws about home education. In general, if you are only there temporarily, you can probably home educate. If you are resident, you'll need to ensure you comply with local laws. In a few countries, home education is completely illegal or virtually illegal.

I'm not up to date with the laws of many countries outside the UK. Home educators who travel without using school call it "worldschooling", so that's the word to google. If you want to say which country you are going to, maybe someone here can point you in the right direction. However, this Mumsnet home ed board has only a modest number of people posting, so if that doesn't work, maybe find a worldschooling Facebook group?
