I home educate my children and they love being outdoors, there’s a group of other families that are interested too in hosting a sports day kind of event. The only problem is none of us own any of the equipment.

do you think any schools would let us borrow some for the day?

no they won’t

you will have to buy or go on parenting group and ask to borrow

Lots of schools can barely afford to buy / replace their own P.E equipment, so they're not going to hand it over to strangers to borrow for the day.

Amazon sell a lot of sports day sets / P.E equipment, or there are companies where you can hire the items you're looking for.

Ask on your local home ed Facebook group. It may be that you can borrow a volleyball set from one family, hurdles from someone else, and so on.

No- as someone else has suggested- you'll need to find/ fund it yourself- maybe ask for a contribution from the other families too and buy your own equipment you guys can use regularly

Agreed. The school probably had to fundraise for the equipment so of course they won't let a stranger use it.

I mean this kindly OP but it does seem a very much have your cake and eat it too attitude. You don't want your child attending their school but you think they should let you use the equipment the school has paid for?

There's so many ways to get sports day type equipment by buying it online, renting it or even setting up your own fundraiser to earn money for it. Asking a school to give you their resources is very entitled.

Edited

Probably why I asked on here first. I am not entitled, thank you

Worth contacting local scouts groups etc or council sports facilities?

Funfaxfan · 14/07/2024 14:08

I would ask a leisure centre who does summer clubs for kids.

Oh come on OP… it is a little!

itistooeasy · 14/07/2024 14:48

sign them up for a sports holiday camp this summer
with you not around to give them the experience

It really is entitled though. You want to use what someone else has paid for simply because you don't want to buy it, how is that not entitled?

You may not think it, but the previous poster has a point.

Why was your first thought, could we borrow this from a school? Rather than all of our children will get a lot of use out of sports equipment, maybe we should buy some?

KnickerlessParsons · 14/07/2024 18:10

Make up some games that don't need equipment. Running, jumping, swimming, throwing, cycling, obstacle races.....

Lifelessordinary1 · 30/07/2024 11:01

There is a HE sports group near us which we do not attend but they did sports day a week ago which we did. This is run in conjunction with a group that runs various after school and holiday sports clubs - there is a small charge for using the equipment and land but it works out as a couple of pounds per child so really affordable
