One of my pupils (Y1) is going travelling with his family for the whole summer. He leaves this week. Which are the most useful websites for his mum to use with him whilst he is away? He didn't start school until October this year.

Bumping this for you...

I seem to remember Starfall being mentioned?

terramum · 19/03/2008 11:42

Is there anything in particular he will miss?

glinda · 19/03/2008 11:54

I am most concerned that he keeps his literacy progressing. He started school late and is at the stage where he is like a sponge - desperate to learn everything! I am sending his numeracy scheme for the year and advice on practical everyday maths. Hopefully he will gain a lot from his time travelling - perhaps learn a little of a new language and about another culture. I just don't want him to find school hard when he returns, so he must continue to progress with reading and writing.
I looked at Starfall - thanks. I think that he will enjoy that one.

Am not a home edder, but I found Rainforest Maths good for building up ds1's confidence in numeracy. Not sure that it covers all the curriculum but may help?

Thanks all!! Loads to go with there.
I especially like the Rainforest maths - might use some of that on the smart board in class too!

Education city is quite good, not a standalone site but reinforces other work.

Education City is great, but it's expensive. I was just reading this if it's any help. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/43/499970

The BBC Revisewise things are quite good too. There's also this which isn't exactly what I was trying to find but might lead you to it!!
