Does anyone have any experience of online school for A levels?

Any positive experiences (or ones to avoid - much appreciated) - for September 24 intake.

Out of interest why not Kings?

Before you pay for this, please look at the course requirements as often these places can’t assess coursework and kids come unstuck when they can’t get a centre to sit exams with a coursework element.

Have a look at the National Extension College (NEC), OP. They offer a wide range of A level subjects, detailed marking of assignments by subject specialists and are an NEA (non-examined assessment) centre so course work is not an issue. They are well established (1963) and experienced in working with home schooling families (assuming that that is what you are; apologies if not!) You can enrol and start whenever you like, without being tied to term dates. I worked with NEC in a consultancy capacity for more than five years not long ago so know from the inside that their good reputation is deserved.

Thanks, we are currently with MOS which is amazing, but the transition to Kings has been very stressful, so other options appreciated.

We love MOS - online lessons, teachers marking work, lots of clarity around the course and good structure with individual support in place.

Oh that's interesting. I worked for mos and now kings since the buy out. A levels will be much better imho as there are more sessions per subject.

Ooh interesting, how are you finding the transition?

It's a real dilemma, as the teachers and amazing, as are the MOS staff. It's just kings don't seem to be at all organised, there are a lot of unhappy parents, particularly for our year where MOS promised continuity and not much change!!

It's been stressful for us too.
Lots of mos staff have transferred over though including most of my department.

Sorry this been so stressful for you too. MOS has been amazing for us, totally changed our lives. I hope the ethos lives on at kings.

We were worried a couple of teachers said they wouldn't transfer but we have some familiar names on the timetable and DC v excited about their English teacher who they recognise from MOS.

I'm sure things will settle down.

Check out Highgrove Online School. Their flipped learning approach has been very popular amongst pupils and works out as a great value added to the educational experience.

Hi all thanks for the above information.
My daughter is looking to do A Level Maths as an extra subject outside of her sixth form.
Would you recommend MOS and if so what does it stand for?

MOS was my online schooling and it's merged / been taken over by Kings Inter high.

I didn't write the previous message, but my experience with KIH has also been terrible. We've encountered numerous problems, including constant turnover of teachers resulting in missing recommendation letters, failure to transfer grades to subsequent teachers, scheduling conflicts, unresolved issues, and lack of general responsiveness. The list of grievances could go on and on. It's been a frustrating experience overall.

We miss MOS too!
