Another thread to bump up for information.

Free Range Education: How Home Education Works Terri Dowty (ed) Hawthorn Press

It is a UK book (many are American) and each chapter is written by a different family about their experience - it gives a good idea of the range of experience.

Synopsis;
A handbook for families considering or starting out in home education. The book is full of family stories, resources, burning questions, humour, tips, practical steps and useful advice so the reader can choose what best suits his or her family situation.

Hi mrsdisorganised, it is good to hear that your dd is happier at school.
The personality of a teacher and how they work can make such an enormous difference can't it.

Your dh won't be alone in needing persuading if it comes to it. It seems to me that the majority of parents who are not so involved with the traumas of a child's schooling, when they are unhappy, have deep reservations. After all in our society we have been so brainwashed into believing that school is not the only way and doing something that is different to everyone else, does seem scary.

If it comes to it, it may be worth finding your local home ed group and taking your dh along to meet other parents and chat-and get him to read some of the books mentioned here.

Good luck where ever your path takes you all.

I really like "How to get your kid off the refridgerator and into learning" Carol Barnier about how to home educate ADHD or highly distractible kids. It's really practical with lots of ideas that would work for any kids.
